​The HIP Female Skills Competition 2025 is underway, celebrating the exceptional talent of women in the plumbing and heating industry. This annual event provides Level 2 and 3 plumbing and heating learners from colleges nationwide the opportunity to compete in live practical installations, showcasing their skills and vying for prestigious awards.​

The competition is structured across three regional heats, with winners and runners-up progressing to the Grand Final. Each participant receives a certificate, with prizes generously donated by sponsors, including headline sponsor Plumb Centre, alongside Milwaukee, Viessmann, Aalberts IPS, Grundfos, Mira Showers, Stelrad, Fix Radio, Snickers Workwear, Talon, The Worshipful Company of Plumbers, Yorkshire Copper Tube, and the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE). ​

 

Winner Announced – HIP Female Skills Competition 2025 – Rebecca Markey and Tutor from Kirklees College

The competition is designed and judged by Jerry Whiteley, Technical Manager at CIPHE, ensuring that the challenges reflect real-world scenarios and industry standards. ​

In 2024, the competition witnessed outstanding performances, with Daisy Turner from Barking and Dagenham College crowned as the winner, and Ciah Hooch Llewellyn Davies from Gower College, Swansea, as the runner-up. Reflecting on the experience, last year’s winner, Tiffany Baker from Group Llandrillo Menai, highlighted the importance of connecting with fellow female tradespeople, stating, “Definitely meeting the other females, because I don’t get to meet a lot of female tradespeople.

This year’s competition promises to be equally inspiring, as it continues to support the next generation of female plumbers, fostering confidence, skill development, and industry recognition.​
