Plumbers’ Shooting Day at Bisley
20 Liverymen and guests enjoyed a sunny Saturday morning shooting clays at the National Shooting Ranges, Bisley, Surrey.
Our second Plumbers’ Shooting Day at the National Shooting Ranges at Bisley, Surrey, took place on Saturday 28th March 2026. We numbered 20 Liverymen and guests, some of whom are regular shooters and others very occasional or complete novices. That is the beauty of this sport: it caters for all levels. We were warmly welcomed by our hosts, at the Bisley Shooting Ground clubhouse, for morning breakfast before moving to the woods where we broke up into 4 groups of 5. Our coaches, Christine, Steve, Robbie and Michael, each took responsibility for a group, giving us a safety briefing first before taking us to various stands where we shot different types of clays to simulate shooting game with varying degrees of difficulty.
At the end of our individual shoots, when most will have shot about 100 times, we all met up at the “Flush” (such an appropriate name for our Livery) where each group took it in turns to collectively shoot as many clays that were in the air at any one time as they could. We were blessed with marvellous weather once again, coldish but with blue skies and no rain.Following shooting we repaired to the White Hart Inn in Pirbright for a very amiable lunch and were pleased to be joined by the Master, Sandra Raine, and her Consort Ian. IPM Charles Brooks took the opportunity to thank Lvy Penny Malik publicly for organising another super Plumbers Day at Bisley, which we hope to repeat next year. Anyone interested in shooting with the Livery should contact the Clerk. Skill and experience are not required: our superb coaches will have you hitting targets from the go.
