Plumbers Golf Society at Swinley Forest – 20 March 2026
Plumbers’ Golf Society Opens the 2026 Season at Swinley Forest.
The Plumbers’ Golf Society (PGS) marked the start of its 2026 playing season in fine style, joining our friends from the Horners’ Golf Society for their Spring Meeting on Friday 20 March 2026 at the magnificent Swinley Forest Golf Club.

Few venues in English golf carry the quiet distinction of Swinley Forest. Founded in 1909 and designed by the celebrated architect Harry Colt, the course is widely regarded as one of the finest examples of classic heathland golf in the country.
Set amidst towering pines and heather-lined fairways in Berkshire, Swinley Forest is renowned for its natural beauty, strategic design, and impeccable conditioning.
The PGS contingent— Tony Goodhead, Luke Peters, Paul Husselbee, and David Hannam—were delighted to be guests of the Horners’ Golf Society, continuing the strong and longstanding ties between our two Livery companies.

Swinley Forest demands precision and patience rather than brute force, and the PGS players rose to the challenge with enthusiasm. The day was played in excellent spirit, reflecting both the competitive edge and camaraderie that define Livery golf.
On his first visit to Swinley, Paul Husselbee played with a smile and a hot putter and scored 37 points which won him the Guest Prize. Well played Paul!

Mention must be made of the fabulous lunch, which was enjoyed in the elegant surroundings of the clubhouse. Combining traditional fare with impeccable service, it provided the perfect setting for convivial conversation, renewal of friendships, and the strengthening of inter-Livery bonds that sit at the heart of these occasions.
This excellent start to the season bodes well for the year ahead for the Plumbers’ Golf Society. Our sincere thanks go to Steve Bradbury and The Horners’ Golf Society for their generous hospitality and for hosting such a memorable opening fixture.
We look forward to welcoming members and guests to forthcoming PGS events as the 2026 season gathers momentum.
