Masters’ and Clerks’ Lunch – 27 April 2022

Company News Women in the Livery (WIL)

Our annual Masters’ and Clerks’ Lunch for our fellow livery companies returned after a two-year break, in the splendid surroundings of Carpenters’ Hall, the home of our office.

The lunch follows our spring Court meeting, during which we admitted and welcomed six new members to the Livery, who you can see in a separate news item.

The Master and Wardens received all the diners for pre-lunch drinks of English sparkling wine and processed into lunch in the traditional manner with the Master’s consort, ‘last minute’ guest speaker and Clerk.

Sadly, our planned guest speaker, author Tom Chivers, tested positive for Covid and was unable to join us, but the Master Carpenter, filled the breach most eloquently, following the formal welcome by the Master.  He was joined by ten fellow Masters, Prime Warden and seven Clerks as our guests.

A thoroughly enjoyable and hospitable function! Our next Court event will be our Summer Festival at Barber-Surgeons’ Hall on the evening of Wednesday 6th July. They have gardens adjoining the old London Wall, where we will be able to enjoy our pre-dinner reception. Look out for the flyer nearer the date. If you would like to see more pictures of today’s function, or even buy some, go to the photographer’s website ‘Gerald Sharp Photography‘. Here are some of them:
