Hug A Plumber Day – 25 April 2025

Each year on 25 April, Hug A Plumber Day provides a cheerful opportunity to recognise the indispensable role of plumbing professionals across the world. Without their skill and commitment, our water supply, sanitation, and heating systems – things we so often take for granted – simply would not function. From ensuring clean drinking water to maintaining safe drainage and cutting-edge sustainable plumbing solutions, plumbers are essential to modern life.

The Worshipful Company of Plumbers (WCoP) has long upheld the importance of excellence and innovation in the plumbing industry. Established by Royal Charter in 1611, the Company continues to celebrate the achievements of those working within the craft. Today is a chance to reflect on the centuries of craftsmanship, public health advancement, and engineering ingenuity that the plumbing profession represents.

Although you may not literally hug your local plumber, a heartfelt thank you, a word of appreciation, or even sharing a moment on social media can go a long way in showing respect for the profession. The WCoP also encourages members and the wider community to take this opportunity to promote plumbing as a vital, skilled, and rewarding career path for future generations.
