Election of Lord Mayor & Plumbers’ Lunch at Stationers
On 30th September, a good number of Liverymen from the Company, including the Master, who was processing, and the Wardens attended Common Hall at the Guildhall where we saw Alderman Alistair King DL elected by the Livery to be the 696th Lord Mayor of the City of London.

The Lord Mayor-Elect will take office on 8th November at the Silent Ceremony at Guildhall, followed by the Lord Mayor’s Show on 9th November, at which our newly installed Master and Wardens, along with our Clerk, will be processing in a group of Ancient Livery Companies.
The Lord Mayor-Elect will be joined during his year, 2024-2025, by the two newly admitted Sheriffs, Alderman Greg Jones KC and David Chalk. All three of them spoke at Common Hall and the Company sends them our warmest congratulations and best wishes for a successful ensuing year.
The Deputy Town Clerk had the role of keeping Liverymen engaged with a very amusing speech about the City and its history.
Afterwards, 14 Plumbers and guests repaired to Stationers’ Hall for an excellent and very convivial lunch, delayed somewhat by the overrunning of Common Hall.
The Master Stationer, Paul Wilson, welcomed over 200 diners from more than a dozen different Livery Companies and the Master Baker, Charles Joseph, responded on behalf of the Guests.
Those lunching were: Master David Adams & Mistress Kathy Adams, Master-Elect Charles Brooks & Penny Brooks, Court Assistant Michael Cooper, and Liverymen Peter Cheesman, Eddie McCourt, Trevor Wilson, Anthony Lowe, Dr Malvern Tipping, Eileen Tipping, Don Barron, with Lesley Barron and the Clerk Adrian Mumford.
