Celebrating Excellence: The Master Certificate Scheme – 3 March 2025
The Master Certificate Scheme continues to be a prestigious recognition of skill and career progression across the Livery movement. Established to celebrate excellence in trade and industry, the scheme highlights the dedication and expertise of professionals at every stage of their careers. This year marked a record number of award winners, with the Worshipful Company of Plumbers proudly celebrating the achievements of five outstanding recipients.

The Master Certificate Scheme was first introduced in 2001, inspired by the leadership of our late Past Master Geoff Marsh MBE. In 2006, alongside the Chairman of the Construction Livery Group, Past Master Lightmonger Hugh Ogus MBE (the Clerk’s father), the scheme was expanded into a Pan-Livery initiative. It is designed to encourage and celebrate career progression within trades and industries represented by Livery Companies.
From its small beginnings, the scheme has grown to include Master, Journeyman, and Apprentice winners. It is now in its 24th year, with a record 19 Livery Companies celebrating 66 award winners. The prestigious ceremony was held at Mansion House, hosted by the Lord Mayor, with the Lady Mayoress, Sheriff David Chalk, and supporting Masters in attendance.
The Worshipful Company of Plumbers had five award recipients, each receiving their certificates on stage from the Lord Mayor and the Master:
Lvy Donald Barron – Master Certificate
Donald Lack – Master Certificate
Oliver Salmon – Journeyman Certificate (as part of the Plumbers Professional Development Scheme (PPDS), run jointly by the Company and CIPHE)
Simon Love – Master Certificate
Fmn Louchavan Lemard – Master Certificate
Congratulations to all our award winners!
The event was supported by The Master Charles Brooks, Assistant Kevin Wellman (CEO, CIPHE), Assistant Julie Spinks (Director, WaterSafe), and Immediate Past Master David Adams, along with the Clerk, who were all on hand to lend their encouragement and support.
