Annual Banquet at Mansion House – A Memorable Celebration 17th March 2025
On Monday 17 March, Master Charles Brooks, Mistress Penny, and the Wardens welcomed Liverymen and honoured guests to the Annual Banquet of the Worshipful Company of Plumbers, held in the glorious Egyptian Hall at Mansion House.

Following the traditional arrival formalities, with a ceremonial guard from the Richmond Sea Cadets, attendees enjoyed a Champagne reception and photographs with guests. The Master and Mistress greeted distinguished attendees including Michael Drayton, our principal guest and speaker for the evening, as well as Alderman Sir Andrew Parmley, former Chairman of the Baltic Exchange and Lord Mayor Locum Tenens.
Dinner was formally opened with Grace from the Hon. Chaplain Liveryman Philip Warner. The banquet featured an exceptional menu complemented by fine wines. Music was provided by the Royal Marines Association Brass Ensemble, whose rousing performance of the Posthorn Gallop echoed magnificently in stereophonic form from opposite ends of the hall.
The traditional Loving Cup ceremony added further gravitas to the evening
In his speech, the Master warmly welcomed Sir Andrew Parmley and his wife Wendy, and presented a cheque for the Lord Mayor’s Appeal. Sir Andrew responded with his customary wit and warmth, after which Upper Warden Sandra Raine formally welcomed the Company’s guests.
The Master then introduced our guest speaker Michael Drayton, who delivered an inspiring and reflective address. He shared insights from his career in the City of London as a shipbroker, as well as his passions for classic sports cars, aviation heritage, and Cathedral music.
The evening concluded with the Stirrup Cup, drawing to a close a most enjoyable event filled with camaraderie and celebration. We extend heartfelt thanks to the Clerk, her team, and the Company Stewards, under the dedicated leadership of Senior Steward Kevin Thomas, for their superb organisation and attention to detail.
