The Master Sandra Raine, Consort Ian Raine, Past Master Air Cdre Paul Nash and Honorary President of the Squadron, Lvy Air Cdre Barbara Cooper, former Commandant of the Air Cadets, and our Clerk Debbie Abergil were all invited to join the staff and cadets at this splendid end of year celebration. And they had much to celebrate:

  • The Sqn were runners-up in the Marshall Trophy, awarded to the most improved air cadet squadron in the country
  • Cadet Warrant Officer (CWO) Samah Seedat was awarded the Air Training Corps 75 Anniversary Sword as the top female cadet and runner-up in the Dacre Sword award for the top cadet in the country at a splendid ceremony at the RAF College Cranwell in September. She has also served with distinction as the Lord Mayor’s Cadet and Deputy Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet.

  • Commanding Officer Flt Lt Sulaiman Faisal received the award as the Greater London Reserve Forces and Cadet Association’s top squadron commander:
    • He was also chosen to represent the whole of the Air Cadet organisation at the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance Service in the Royal Albert Hall, a huge honour
    • He was also invited to spend a week with the Royal Air Force’s Kings Colour Squadron, the sqn which participates in national and royal ceremonial events and helps mount the guard at Buckingham Palace
  • The sqn has formed its own band, with financial help from our charity and achieved top 5 status in various competitions:
    • We may get a chance to see them perform in 2026
    • CWO P-K Boateng was chosen to represent the sqn at the Lord Mayor’s Show in the combined Air Cadets’ Band; sqn members were delighted to see him on national TV
  • On the training front:
    • The cadets received more BTEC awards than ever before and have more signed-up for further awards
    • They also received multiple gliding scholarships

Many congratulations to all the squadron, its staff and cadets for their splendid achievements. The esprit de corps of the unit is excellent and it is clear to see how much fun and camaraderie  they enjoy when they meet. We wish them all the best for 2026
