The WCoP and CIPHE PPDS Water Supply Charity Project in Nepal – In Support of the Dolma Foundation

The Worshipful Company of Plumbers (WCoP) and the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE) are proud to announce their support for four volunteers from their Plumbing Professional Development Scheme (PPDS), who will travel to Nepal this November to take part in the Bokhejunda Water Distribution Project.

Tackling Water Challenges in Rural Nepal

This life-changing initiative, delivered in partnership with the Dolma Foundation, will restore a gravity-fed water supply system in the remote village of Changam Basti, located in the Rasuwa District of Nepal. Once complete, the project will provide 24-hour access to safe running water for 60 residents, transforming daily life through improved health, hygiene, and living conditions.

Access to clean water remains a major challenge in Nepal. The country’s mountainous terrain makes installing infrastructure difficult and expensive. Many rural villages depend on natural springs, which are becoming increasingly unreliable due to climate change, deforestation, and landslides.Existing water systems are often outdated or poorly maintained, leaving communities without a dependable source of clean water. The Bokhejunda Project aims to change that by rehabilitating a non-functional pipeline, repairing storage tanks, and installing new components to deliver a reliable, long-term water supply.

By restoring and upgrading this system, the project will reduce the risk of waterborne diseases and ensure a more secure, sustainable water source for generations to come.

Hands-On Collaboration and Skills Development

Four PPDS volunteers—Ruben Duggan, Daisy Turner, Ollie Salmon, and Ethan Wynn—will take a hands-on role in the project. Working side by side with local residents, they will:

  • Lay new pipelines
  • Support construction of system infrastructure
  • Share plumbing knowledge and expertise

This collaborative approach not only delivers a functional water supply but also builds local capacity, empowering the community to manage and maintain the system in the future.

  • Partnership with the Dolma Foundation

The Dolma Foundation, a long-standing supporter of community-led projects in Nepal, is providing accommodation, logistical support, and local coordination for the volunteer team. Their expertise ensures that the project is safe, well-organized, and sustainable.

Together, the Dolma Foundation and PPDS volunteers will create a resilient water system that the people of Changam Basti can rely on for years to come.

  • A Project That Embodies Our Values

This initiative perfectly reflects the shared values of CIPHE, WCoP, and PPDS:

  • Technical excellence
  • Professional development
  • Service to society

By combining skilled craftsmanship with humanitarian purpose, the project demonstrates how plumbing can transform lives—improving wellbeing, fostering leadership, and promoting international collaboration.

  • Acknowledging Our Sponsors

This project would not be possible without the generous support of our sponsors and donations by:

  • City & Guilds
  • Nineteen Group (InstallerSHOW)
  • Mark Vitow
  • Intergas Heating
  • Catchpole & Rye.

Their contributions are helping turn this vision into reality.

  • Journey and Next Steps

The volunteer team will depart for Nepal in the first week of November. After a short stay in Kathmandu, they will travel to Changam Basti to begin two weeks of on-site work installing the new water supply system.

Before returning to the UK, they will spend a few days exploring Nepal’s rich cultural heritage.

You can follow their journey and project updates through upcoming posts from Nepal—and a full presentation will be delivered at InstallerSHOW 2026 at the NEC Birmingham, where the volunteers will share their experiences and outcomes.

Together, we’re proving that plumbing changes lives.
