Master And Mistress Attend The Installation Of Bishop Sarah
The Master and Mistress attend the Installation of Dame Sarah Mullally as Bishop of London.

The Master and Mistress were honoured to be invited to attend the Installation, on Saturday 12 May 2018 of Dame Sarah Mullally as Bishop of London. The new Bishop (the first female to be appointed to this role), who had an eminent career in nursing (rising to the post of Chief Nursing Officer) before training for the Anglican Ministry, was installed in a magnificent service in Wren’s iconic St Paul’s Cathedral.
The Masters of the Livery Companies were seated with the Lord Mayor, Sheriffs and judges in the Quire area of the Cathedral, very close to the throne on which Bishop Sarah was seated for part of the proceedings.
Having struck the Great West Door of the Cathedral with her pastoral staff, the new Bishop entered to a trumpet fanfare at the start of the service and when she left, at the end, through the same door, she was greeted to the sound of the St Michael and All Angels Steel Band from Brent. During her sermon, she talked about the challenges facing the church and society, in London in particular.
The Installation was followed by a reception in Guildhall.
