HIP Female Skills Competition Final
The Worshipful Company of Plumbers was proud to sponsor the HIP Female Skills Competition, held at Stephenson College, Loughborough on 21st April 2026. Bronwen Evans of Cardiff and Vale College was named the overall winner, with Danni Lee of Suffolk New College awarded runner up.
With the continuing shortage of skilled plumbers and a growing need to attract more young people — particularly women — into the trade, the Worshipful Company of Plumbers was proud to sponsor the HIP Female Skills Competition 2026.
Supporting the Next Generation of Talent
The competition provides a vital platform for aspiring female plumbing and heating students off all ages to demonstrate their technical skills, build confidence, expand professional networks, and gain recognition within a traditionally male dominated industry. Previous competitors have gone on to achieve significant career success, highlighting the competition’s lasting impact on professional development.

The Grand Final
Following a series of competitive regional heats, the Grand Final of the HIP Female Skills Competition 2026 was held on 21 April 2026 at the Stephenson Campus, part of the SMB College Group.
Six finalists faced a demanding practical installation challenge designed to test technical competence, problem solving ability, and applied industry knowledge. The task was set and overseen by Head Judge Mark Killy of WaterSafe, ensuring a rigorous and industry relevant assessment.
Representing the Company
The event was attended by representatives of the Worshipful Company of Plumbers, including Master Sandra Raine, Consort Ian Raine, and Julie Spinks, Chair of the Education and Technical Committee (pictured).
All expressed their admiration for the finalists’ professionalism, skill, and determination, commending each competitor for her commitment to achieving excellence within the plumbing and heating profession.
Celebrating Achievement
Warm congratulations are extended to all six finalists, each of whom demonstrated exceptional skill and should be immensely proud of their achievements.

All finalists received a Certificate of Excellence from the Worshipful Company of Plumbers. In addition, Bronwen was presented with a handcrafted lead shield, created by Company volunteers at Amberley Museum. The shield serves as a lasting symbol of the plumbing trade’s enduring contribution to society and a meaningful link between its rich heritage and its future.
