The Royal Kennel Club was founded in 1873 and is the largest organisation in the UK devoted to dog health, welfare and training. The first national kennel club in the world, it retains a significant art collection housed throughout its premises at Clarges Street, including the Club Room and Dining Room.  In addition, the Club has its own Culture and Heritage Department that includes a Library, Art Gallery and Photographic Archive all dedicated to the story of the dog. The Collection includes early books, paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, ceramics, daguerreotypes and much more dating from the 1st century right up to the present day. There is also a spectacular Exhibition currently on show in the Art Gallery: Show Prizes: Going for Guns, Gold, Silver & Spoons that showcases silver and gold trophies from the Club’s extensive collection, including the world-famous Crufts Best in Show trophy.
