Set in this delightful, welcoming and under-visited part of the country, take a trip through time with us. See how a small frontier outpost of the Roman Empire on Hadrian’s Wall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, provides a rugged backdrop for well-preserved medieval castles and sourced the raw materials which fuelled the industrial revolution. All now preserved in world class heritage museums. If you have always just by-passed this area on your way to or from Scotland, now is the time to stop off and experience the hospitality of this friendly welcoming area, just off the A1.
We have selected, as your base, Beamish Hall, a grand family-owned 4-star country house hotel with many period features, set within 24 acres of wooded parkland.
