Engineers from HMS Sultan visit Plumbing Museum – 29 June 2026
A team of Royal Navy engineers from HMS Sultan visited the Worshipful Company of Plumbers Plumbing Museum & Workshop Trust at Amberley for a day of practical leadworking training. The visit celebrated the long-standing relationship between the organisations while helping preserve and pass on valuable traditional plumbing skills.

A small group of engineers from HMS SULTAN called on the Worshipful Company of Plumbers Plumbing Museum and Workshop Trust 29 June 2026 at the Amberley workshop as part of the rich history or coordination between both organisations. The team made up of Commander Fergus Ochtman-Corfe, Lt Cdr Matt Rowlinson, Lt Chris O’Callaghan and WO1 Martin Wallace met the WCoP team led by Peter Cheeseman for some practical training in leadwork. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day where the HMS SULTAN team got exposure to the incredible skills that the WCoP volunteers possess and generously shared. Peter and the team showed patience and helped pass on the basics of casting and welding lead which was a brilliant way of sharing this rare skill to a group of Naval Engineers for whom this was a significant change to the haptic activities normally delivered at sea.
