The Lady Mayor’s Show – Welcome!

For the first time in its very long history, the City of London will celebrate the Lady Mayor’s Show on Saturday 8 November 2025, from 11am to about 2:30pm. This historic occasion marks the installation of Dame Susan Langley DBE, Alderman for Aldgate, as the 697th Lord Mayor of London—and the first ever to bear the title ‘Lady Mayor of London’.

The Lady Mayor

Dame Susan Langley will officially take office at the traditional Silent Ceremony on 7 November in Guildhall. The following day, the Lady Mayor’s Procession will carry her through the City streets to Westminster, where she will swear loyalty to the Crown. She is only the third woman to hold this ancient office since the 13th century.

The Procession

The 2025 running order is now confirmed and will be revealed closer to the day. As ever, the Show promises a spectacular display of floats, livery companies, military bands, and community groups, celebrating the City’s history and diversity.

History of the Show

The Lord Mayor’s Show is the world’s oldest and most enduring civic procession. It began in the early 13th century when King John granted the City the right to elect its own Mayor—on condition that each newly-elected Mayor travelled to Westminster to swear loyalty to the King. For more than 800 years, that journey has been repeated, evolving into the vibrant and joyous spectacle we know today.

Poster and Programme

The 2025 Show poster and programme feature an original artwork by renowned illustrator David Downton, available as a limited-edition print from CCA Galleries. Programmes will be on sale from Scout and Guide volunteers on Show day for £5 (cash only), with £1 going to the seller.

Getting There and Road Closures

Visitors should note that City roads will be closed for most of the day, with buses diverted and parking suspended from Friday afternoon. Roads typically reopen before 4pm. Public transport is the best option—the Elizabeth Line station at Farringdon offers excellent access, and walking or cycling into the City offers a delightful traffic-free experience.

Where to Watch

There are many great vantage points depending on whether you prefer the bustling heart of the crowd or a quieter corner to enjoy the pageantry. Advice and routes for disabled visitors are available on the official website.

Safety and Security

The organisers work closely with the City of London Police and emergency services to ensure a safe and enjoyable event for everyone.
